Frequently Asked Questions

How much antiscalant should I add to my day tank?

The amount to be added depends on a few factors including: feed flow to the system, size of your antiscalant dosing pump, size of your antiscalant daytank, and the desired antiscalant dosage. Please check out our dilution calculator for assistance, or feel free to contact our technical support department directly.

How do I set my antiscalant dosing pump?

The dosing pump setting depend on a few factors including: feed flow to the system, size of your antiscalant dosing pump, antiscalant concentration in the day tank, and the desired antiscalant dosage. Please check out our dosage calculator for assistance, or feel free to contact our technical support department directly.

What antiscalant should I add to my system?

The type of antiscalant required depends greatly on your unique feedwater chemistry and system design. Please check out our chemical selection tool for assistant with product selection ,or feel free to contact our technical support department directly.

What cleaners should I use?

The type of specialty cleaner required depends greatly on your unique feedwater chemistry and system design. The best approach to cleaning a system is determining where the problem lies, and understanding how these symptoms relate to foulant or scale composition.  Cleaning is both an art and a science, which is fine tuned through experience. In general, we suggest applying a high pH cleaner, followed by a low pH cleaner to restore system performance.   We have products for all membrane based systems.  For additional information, please see both our chemical selection tool and our CIP Tips & Tricks section, or feel free to contact our technical support department directly.

How do I clean my system?

  • In general, we suggest applying a high pH cleaner, followed by a low pH cleaner to restore system performance. Since most membrane systems are uniquely designed, we provide general cleaning procedures at the following link, but please contact our technical support department for procedures specific to your plant.  For chemical dilution procedures, please follow this link to our CIP calculator.

What type of water analysis should I get?

In order to fully understand your application, a detailed inorganic and organic analysis of the feedwater should be conducted. Since the possibilities are endless and testing can get very expensive, we have consolidated a list specific to membrane applications which can be found here.  Water samples can also be sent back to PWT for analysis. Check out our service offering page for additional information.
